Sonoran Desert Security User Group (SDSUG) Website Governance Guidelines
This website supports the Sonoran Desert Security User Group (SDSUG) mission and long-term sustainability. The website governance guidelines future-proof design, implementation, and transition to our successors.
Design, content, and technical decisions prioritize:
- Accessibility
- Continuity
- Maintainability
- Security
Avoid custom code, proprietary systems, or tools requiring specialized knowledge to ensure future site stewardship and ease of transition.
Secure Link Requirements
All internal and external links must use encrypted transport (HTTPS or any successor protocol that provides equivalent or stronger encryption). Unencrypted links (HTTP) may only be used when the destination does not support secure data transmission. SDSUG does not link to sites that intentionally avoid modern encryption standards. This requirement protects user privacy, ensures data integrity, and aligns with current and emerging security best practices.
Content Standards
Evergreen Content Only
SDSUG publishes content that remains accurate, relevant, and useful over time. Pages are stable references by design, not time‑sensitive announcements or short‑lived updates. This standard does not apply to events.
Prohibited Content Types
To maintain a clean, evergreen, and non‑commercial site, SDSUG does not publish:
- event‑specific sales or commercial solicitations
- recruiting materials or talent‑sourcing requests
- time‑limited promotions, offers, or advertisements
- vendor marketing content
These items expire quickly, create dead links, and conflict with our commitment to long‑term stewardship and a consistent user experience.
Rationale
SDSUG is not a job board, recruiting platform, or advertising channel. Our website serves as a stable institutional reference, and all content must support that purpose.
Members may share the prohibited content types through the SDSUG newsletter, which is designed for timely, community‑submitted updates. SDSUG does not publish these items on the website.
