Our governance‑driven, vendor‑neutral sponsorship framework
How SDSUG Selects Sponsors
Sonoran Desert Security (SDSUG) is committed to building a strong, vendor-neutral security community in the Phoenix area. To ensure fairness, sustainability, and long-term continuity, we operate under a structured sponsorship model.
Our sponsorship model aligns with a practitioner-first philosophy. Learn why practitioner communities matter on our Local Room, Global Impact page.
Our goal is simple:
Support the community. Protect independence. Encourage collaboration.
We do not operate on exclusivity or pay-to-play arrangements. Instead, we use defined sponsorship lanes that allow organizations to participate in a way that aligns with their goals while preserving the integrity of the group.
Sponsorship Tiers
1. Anchor Sponsor (Annual Support)
Anchor Sponsors provide foundational support for SDSUG operations and programming throughout the year.
Anchor Sponsors may receive:
- Prominent logo placement on the website
- Recognition at events
- Priority calendar coordination
- Strategic collaboration opportunities
Anchor Sponsorship does not grant editorial control, exclusivity, or governance authority.
2. Event Sponsors (Rotating)
Event Sponsors host or support individual SDSUG events.
Event Sponsors may provide:
- Food and beverages
- Optional demonstration sessions
- Short technical presentation or briefing
- Venue space
Event sponsorship is scheduled on a rotating basis to ensure fairness and broad community representation.
Governance Principles
All sponsorship activity is guided by the following principles:
- Equal access to participation
- No exclusivity agreements
- No pay-to-play content access
- Professional conduct standards
- Transparency
- Vendor neutrality
SDSUG exists to serve the community, not individual corporate interests.
Why Structure Matters
Security communities thrive when trust is preserved.
Clear structure:
- Prevents favoritism
- Reduces ambiguity
- Protects volunteers
- Ensures continuity beyond individual leadership
- Supports long-term stability
We are building infrastructure that can outlast any one sponsor, volunteer, or officer.
