If you’re shy, new, or don’t want to walk in alone — you’re welcome to sit with us.
For the shy, the cautious, and the “I don’t want to walk in alone” folks
Not everyone is comfortable walking into a room full of strangers. We understand that feeling deeply — and we’ve built SDSUG so you don’t have to do it alone.
If you’re shy, introverted, anxious about showing up solo, or just prefer to have someone to sit with, this page is for you.
You’re invited to come meet leadership, sit with us, and have a friendly anchor in the room from the moment you arrive.
1. You’re Not the Only One Who Feels This Way
A lot of people hesitate to attend their first event because they:
- don’t know anyone
- don’t want to stand alone
- don’t know where to sit
- don’t want to interrupt a group
- don’t want to feel out of place
You’re not alone in that feeling. And you don’t have to navigate it alone.
2. Come Meet Leadership When You Arrive
If you’re nervous about walking in by yourself, you can come straight to leadership.
We’ll be:
- at the front
- near the check‑in table
- greeting people
- easy to find
- ready to welcome you
You can introduce yourself or just say, “Hi, I’m new.” We’ll take it from there.
3. You’re Welcome to Sit With Us
We always keep space open at our table for newcomers.
If you want:
- a place to sit
- someone to talk to
- someone to introduce you around
- someone to help you feel grounded
Just come over. You’re welcome to sit with us for the entire event.
No pressure. No awkwardness. No expectations.
4. We’ll Help You Meet People (Only If You Want To)
Some people want introductions. Some people want to observe quietly. Some people want one or two friendly faces and that’s enough.
You set the pace.
We’ll match your comfort level.
5. You Don’t Need to Know Anything to Attend
You don’t need:
- a certification
- a job title
- a background in cybersecurity
- a reason
- a plan
You just need curiosity.
We welcome beginners, students, career‑changers, and people who are simply exploring.
6. If You Want a Soft Landing, Tell Us Ahead of Time
If you want us to look for you when you arrive, you can send a quick note:
→ Contact SDSUG
Just say something like:
“I’m new and I’d like to sit with leadership.”
We’ll be ready for you.
7. You Belong Here
SDSUG is built to be:
- safe
- welcoming
- structured
- calm
- beginner‑friendly
- introvert‑friendly
You don’t have to be outgoing to belong here. You don’t have to know anyone. You don’t have to walk in alone.
You can sit with us.
Welcome to SDSUG. We’re glad you’re here.
