Role Summary

The Welcome Ambassador is the first point of contact for attendees at SDSUG events. This role focuses on greeting guests, facilitating sign‑ins, answering initial questions, and directing people to the appropriate areas. The Ambassador sets the tone for the entire experience — warm, steady, and approachable. This is a low‑impact, non‑hierarchical role designed to honor the Ambassador’s strengths in hospitality without placing undue physical or operational burden on them.

Core Responsibilities

• Guest Greeting — Provide a warm, friendly welcome to all attendees.
• Sign‑In Support — Assist guests with check‑in and ensure a smooth entry experience.
• Directional Guidance — Help guests understand where to go and what to expect.
• Tone Setting — Create an atmosphere of safety, belonging, and professionalism from the moment guests arrive.

Scope Boundaries

The Welcome Ambassador is not responsible for:

• Event logistics or setup
• Managing volunteers or staff
• Crowd control or safety operations
• Technical or operational duties

This role is intentionally designed to be lightweight, dignified, and guest‑focused.
